Membership
Membership is open to all Australian citizens and permanent residents. We accept both men and women as members and do not discriminate based on race, religion, or political beliefs. You DON"T need to have served in the military or emergency services to join. While we recognise Veterans and First Responders with a service patch on their vests, all members are treated with equal respect and courtesy regardless of their background.
Traditionally in the biker community, it takes time to become a full member of a club and Partisans Australia is no different. This is to ensure that prospective members are joining for the right reasons. Unfortunately, there are some who want to join for the wrong reasons, or they don't understand what Partisans Australia is all about. Worse still, there are some who like to pretend to have been a soldier or firefighter in order to receive recognition they do not deserve. We don't want tough guys or pretenders; we want members who are willing to serve those that served us to protect Australia and the public. To ensure we are recruiting the right people, membership is gained slowly. We do not haze or bully new members, but we will look at attitude, initiative, willingness to help others, commitment to Club values and your overall reasons for wanting to join. It will take new members at least 1 year to become a full (Patched) member. This may seem like a long time, but it will pass quickly and is broken down into 3 stages; Hang Around, Nominee and Probationary Member.
As a Hang Around, you will be welcome to join us on rides and public events. During this stage you will be introduced to the other members, learn what Partisans Australia is about, what we do and how we do it. This is your initial introduction to the club, and you should use it to decide if you like what you see and if you get along with the other members. This phase lasts for 3 months.
As a Nominee, or Nom, you will take the next step in becoming a Partisan. You will be entitled to wear some Club patches on the front of your vest, including a Nom patch, indicating your intention to become a Full Member. You will become more involved in club activities and events, attend meetings and be more active in what goes on in your Chapter. You will be able to organise your own Chapter ride under the guidance of the Road Captain. This phase also lasts 3 months.
Probationary Members, or Probies, are those that have shown dedication to fellow members, Veterans and First Responders, and are those who are seriously being considered for Full Membership. These members wear the club's name and logo on their breast patch with a "Probationary" rocker beneath it. As a Probie, you will be expected to uphold the values of Partisans Australia, promote awareness of mental health issues, promote safe and enjoyable biking and be willing to step in and help fellow members as needed, showing true Brotherhood or Sisterhood characteristics. This phase lasts 6 months.
Full Membership is denoted by replacing the "Probationary" rocker with a "Chapter" rocker, indicating which Chapter you belong to on your vest. Receiving full membership is a memorable experience celebrated at both Chapter and Club level, and the result of a culmination of dedication, working to support those in need and having some fun and enjoyable rides with many more to come.
To enquire about how to join, contact details for Chapter representatives can be found on the Chapters page.
